Setting length, weight, balance, tip diameter and finish per player adds labour and inventory complexity — in return the cue is built for you rather than for a shelf.

Carbon cue prices span a very wide band, and two products carrying the same "carbon" label can differ several-fold. Here are the seven factors behind that gap.

1. Fiber Grade

"Carbon fiber" is not one material. Elastic modulus and tow count drive cost directly. High-modulus fiber delivers the same stiffness with a thinner wall — a lighter front section and lower deflection. A low-grade layup can still be sold as "carbon" without delivering that advantage.

2. Manufacturing Tolerance

How much wall thickness varies along the shaft depends on mould and process quality. Tighter tolerance means more inspection, more scrap and more labour — and in return, consistency between units.

3. Taper Geometry and Model Range

Producing one shaft type from one mould is cheap. A workshop offering separate geometries for different playing characters carries a mould and a test process per model. That is the cost of choice — and the reason a player can find a model that matches their game.

4. Shaft Count
